    Original Storyline.

Fun to play with all characters.

    Good opportunity for future content.

Can be a grind at times to level up.

It is a widely known fact that when movies are turned into games the outcome is disappointing. Well this one must have had more influence from the comics. If you are expecting to just jump into the game and play as your favourite superhero and create some damage you would be mistaken. The campaign starts play with Kamala Khan attending an Avengers convention and coming across various characters of the team while collecting comics. After an initial attack, you get to play through her origin story campaign and add more members to your team as you try to get the Avengers back together. The storyline is fresh and original and a highlight compared to so many games that just copy what has been done before.

The controls are quite simple to get used to, yet feels different for each character with their set of moves and super powers. It is quite enjoyable playing with each of the characters and using their strengths to your advantage. As you play, skill points can be earned and spent on new abilities which differ from each character. Gear drops also become important to level up in power to be able to tackle harder missions. This can be frustrating to any players who have not played games such as Destiny or The Division 2, but for people that have, it is basically the same with the average score of the gear being your power score. Additionally the need for particular resources to boost gear as well as buying gear from merchants will keep you searching off the beaten track to find that extra chest to open.

The campaign can also be played with friends online which make for interesting moments when fighting over which super hero each person will use. Then for added challenge, try playing it in front of children and see how long it takes for them to wrestle the controller out of your hand and play it themselves. You have been warned.

Overall it is a fun storyline to play through and the graphics and sound help raise the quality of the game. As all loot games are, to get up to the max power level it can become a grind, but if more content is added with new characters in the future it can have high longevity. PlayStation players have the advantage of the exclusive character of Spider-Man joining the mix, so I’m hoping the Xbox won’t be forgotten with the release of new characters.
