    Pros:

New characters and fighting style variations.

Chance to be rewarded by collecting ‘koins’.

    Good visuals throughout.

    Cons:

Can become repetitive in some matches.

Online play can be hit and miss depending on the connection.

    Overall:

Mortal Kombat X is a good improvement over the previous versions which was needed to jump start the game. New characters have been added as well as fighting style variations to add some extra difficulty and spice into the battles even when you are fighting the same character. Gone are those times when you and a friend would choose Sub-Zero and just shoot ice at each other for 3 rounds.

Play along with the story mode to see what has been happening with your favourite characters and work on those moves, especially fatalities, which is, let’s face it, the reason we all got into this game in the first place. Fatalities are as gory and crazy as they have always been, and even clearer being on the latest generation consoles.

The backgrounds of each stage are interactive and can become involved at various stages of the fight as you build up the stamina bar. Also as you fight in matches you can earn ‘koins’ which you can then visit your local and friendly Krypt. Gamble your ‘koins’ for a chance for anything from a secondary fatality to some fan art. This adds some motivation to keep playing and earning more ‘koins’ which is fun, but can also be frustrating when all that hard could be for nothing.

After you are up to date with all the moves, no doubt you will want to challenge the world in online play. Join a faction and then you can enter the weekly challenges and earn points for them and be rewarded for your efforts. A good addition to the series on the latest gen consoles with good flowing visuals throughout.
