300: Rise of an Empire

Overall Rating: 6 out of 10 Based on 1 Review

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of the mortal-turned-god, Xerxes, marches towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land with Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

    Pros:

Full on action scenes and grand scale visuals to keep movie buffs entertained.

    Cons:

The storyline is pretty basic and if you're not into the slow motion bloody fight scenes then this movie is probably not for you.

    Overall:

If you enjoyed the original 300 movie then you'll also enjoy this. The storyline works side-by-side to 300 so shows what's happening before, at the same time and after. The magnitude of the fights scenes makes for an entertaining movie despite the plot being a little light on.
