CGI to make it all believable.

Having to wait 12 months for an ending.

The second instalment of the Hobbit series steps up the momentum from the slower paced “unexpected journey”. The focus is on the journey of the group to the mountain to reclaim the kingdom. There are dangers throughout including attacking Orcs, giant spiders in the forest and the fire breathing dragon Smaug.

The battles continue throughout and with help from the elves and others during their quest to get to the mountain. There Bilbo perseveres to get them into the mountain where they are faced with the protective Smaug who’s voice is supplied by Benedict Cumberbatch.

The action is welcome after the last movie took so long to get moving. The CGI is used well to bring it all to life. As expected as you come up to the 3 hour mark, you realise there is not enough time to wrap it all up which is when you realise there is another movie to come. Frustrating as it is, you are left with a cliffhanger.
