The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Overall Rating: 10 out of 10 Based on 1 Review

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen returns home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a Victor's Tour of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell), a competition that could change Panem forever.

    Pros:

Great adaption of the book - the movie retaining all the important information and events, and introducing a few new scenes from "behind the scenes" in the capital. For those who haven't read the book, the movie still makes complete sense, and it doesn't leave you feeling like you're missing bits of information. And the pacing is well maintained throughout the film.

    Cons:

Any problems with this film can (mostly) be put down to being a pedantic fan, and not worth mentioning as an actual criticism of the film (Eg. how quickly Katniss works out what the spile is).

    Overall:

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a fantastic, fast paced, post-apocalyptic film, which follows on for The Hunger Games. It's well adapted from the best-selling book of the same title, but makes for an equally enjoyable film whether you've read the book or not.
