Wreck-It Ralph

Overall Rating: 8 out of 10 Based on 2 Reviews

Disney CG animated tale set within the world of arcade video games. Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly), the villain of a Donkey Kong-like game, leaves his pixelated world to find another where he can be the hero. Longing to be as beloved as his game’s perfect good guy, Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer, 30 Rock), Ralph "game jumps" into a new first-person shooter, accidentally releasing an enemy that threatens the entire arcade. With the help of Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman), a young troublemaking 'glitch' from a cart racing game, Ralph now has to discover if he's got what it takes to be the 'good guy'.  Directed by Rich Moore, responsible for many of the early episodes of The Simpsons and Futurama.

    Pros:

    Sweet storyline (pun intended)

Great Characters both classic & new

    Visually stunning

    Cons:

This is personal but I didnt care for Vanelope's voice

    Overall:

Overall a great family movie, nothing too scary or suggestive for young ones. My favourite line is Ralph, just because you're bad guy, doesnt mean you're bad guy " Forever a favourite with our family.

    Pros:

An engaging and interesting, intertwining story line, with good twists/reveals; fun characters who are splendidly voiced, colourful scenery and animation styles which are very well suited to the differing game styles/genres throughout the film.

    Cons:

A lot of the cameos of classic characters (ie Mario, Sonic, Q*Bert etc) seem forced and underused. As such, it often feels like they were tacked in so the adults would less annoyed and having to take the kids.

    Overall:

Overall "Wreck-It Ralph" is an enjoyable film, with something to entertain most of its viewers: bright and colourful for the small kids, engaging story for the older kids, and a nostalgia factor for the grown-ups. Well worth watching should you get the chance.
